Located on the Meriç River within the Edirne province, the Edirne Meriç Hydropower Plant features a 2.4 MW installed capacity and delivers approximately 15 million kWh of renewable electricity annually. Commissioned in 2024, the facility operates an average of 6,300 hours per year, contributing significantly to the region's sustainable energy supply.

The plant utilizes modern Archimedean Screw Turbine technology, which is optimized for low-head river flows, ensuring high energy efficiency while maintaining environmental sensitivity, including provisions for fish passage. Plans are also in place to repurpose the discharged water for heating in nearby social and economic facilities, enhancing project with additional sustainable benefits.

The project includes the controlled elevation of water levels on the Meriç River through an inflatable structure, improving turbine performance and delivering benefits such as enhanced environmental quality, recreational space, and shoreline improvements.

With its integrated ecological design and energy production capabilities, the Edirne Meriç HPP stands as a leading example of modern infrastructure supporting renewable energy development in the Thrace region.
