The Amasya Archimedean Screw Hydropower Plant, located on the Yeşilırmak River flowing through the city center of Amasya, is a model of urban-integrated, eco-conscious energy production. Featuring a 200 kW installed capacity, the plant delivers approximately 1.7 million kWh of renewable electricity annually with high operational efficiency and reliability.

Commissioned in 2015, the plant operates 8,600 hours per year and is distinguished by its harmonious architectural design that blends into the urban fabric, as well as by its minimal environmental footprint. The project not only supplies clean energy but also enhances overall energy efficiency by utilizing generator excess heat as additional thermal energy application delivered to existing municipality building (nowadays hotel)..

By maintaining an elevated water level through an inflatable structure on the river, the plant contributes to improved urban aesthetics, regulated water surface conditions, and supports recreational, touristic, and ecosystem-related benefits.

The facility also includes transparent walkable and open to ordinary citizens made of glass roof-platform, embedding technical infrastructure into public urban life as iconic example of of sustainable hydropower application delivering river flow energy in cities.
